Embellish your world with colour, character and creativity.

Imagine that this black page is The Void, where thoughts gestate and plans evolve. It is quiet. It is safe. Your ideas matter.

What do you love? What do you want to do?

Grand or small, archetypal or unique, our aspirations are something to be proud of.

Mine are relatively simple, I like to make things and always have. This can be a good way to find what it is that you are meant to do in life. Think back to what made you happy when you were little.

Our lives are Labyrinthine in nature, we swing back and forward between interests and relationships, goals and memories. One of the most effective ways of honouring this process and finding value in the everyday, is to be creative with our experience. You may not think of yourself as particularly talented artisticlly, but, judgement aside, we all have at least a little potential for recording or expressing the voice of our soul.

The following pages reveal some of what has helped me find my way through the more convoluted stages of my life. We do not need to reject or ignore the bits we dont like, being honest at least in the pages of a diary can be incredibly cathartic.

I love journals, documentaries, personal stories, I wanted to be a journalist when I was in primary school. Then I studied writing and journalism for years at Uni and felt that after the formality I had lost my own voice. It just happened. I could barely write. Having a baby also forced me to get back to basics and appreciate the everyday details of my life.

So I tried working without words. Collage. Mixed Media. Visual, stream of conciousness stuff. I found that there were so many things that attracted my attention I went a bit manic. It was like coming out of a coma. Colours, anything saturated with colour stirred me. I was blissful, content to wallow in a pile of shredded magazines, old postcard, paint, crayons, anything that could go on paper.

The more I looked the more I found. Glass beads, fabric... a seemingly endless supply of techniques and patterns. I was wide awake in lala land.

Occassionally I thought I should have travelled more, or invested in property or a thousand other things that indicate maturity, but I could never be accused of wasting time. I am always studying something, completing little projects. I'm also trusting that if I keep following my instincts, everything will come together. One foot in front of the other. I am in a Labyrinth, not a maze. I am on the path, I am now learning to trust my own instincts. My belief is that journaling and Labyrinth work go hand in hand.

I can happily now say that I am in the right place at the right time doing what I love. Like a ripple effect, seeing someone have conviction in their own interests can inspire someone else to discover theirs. I have learned this from the people who inspire me most; Dr Lauren Artress, Teesha Moore, Sherry Serrafini, Laura MaCabe, SARK , Junitta Vallak and countless others whose purpose has been fulfilled by pursuing a lifestyle that allows them to share their innate talents.

So make yourself comfortable and stay a while. Because every idea you have, contributes to a life prolifique.
